Introduction
Murray & Roberts Cementation invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Site Engineer, to be based at Matla Project, in Witbank . The successful candidate will report to the Project Manager and Contracts Engineer.. The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates. Applications only open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents.
Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
- Providing technical assistance to site personnel and managing sub-contractors
- Setting standards, project planning and Quality control of products/equipment supplied to sites
- Ensuring that maintenance is planned and executed to a very high standard
- Effectively apply systems to control the mining equipment
- Building a good relationship with the client
- Provide effective leadership and guidance to the site engineering team to achieve excellent results
- Maintenance of equipment to best industry benchmarks of cost effectiveness, availability and reliability.
- Efficient and effective construction to specification, understand the specification and cost allowable, monitor
and control quality of execution - Self and team understand and comply with legal regulations and M&RC’s policies, procedures, standards
and safety protocols
Minimum requirements
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
- BSc Engineering degree from a recognised institution, B Tech, or National Higher Diploma
- DMR Government Certificate of Competency to practice as an engineer (GCC mechanical or electrical)
- Flame Proof and Gas Testing Certificates (Essential)
- Valid EB Driver’s license
- Physically fit to work at heights and underground
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
- Experience in trackless Coal mining, equipment maintenance and management systems.
- Good knowledge of winders, construction, shaft production operations.
- A proven track record in the leading of TMM maintenance team, including services, planning and scheduling
- Experience in asset management principles around mining and related equipment and associated operational
maintenance philosophies and standards. - Project management experience will be advantageous.
- At least 5 years of primary production mining experience at engineer level, having held an engineer’s legal appointment for trackless mobile equipment, working in a primary production environment over at least 3 years with
significant control of related maintenance teams and systems, Sound understanding and experience in the following:
- Hoisting installation, maintenance and operations, regulations and inspection
- Conducting failure and trend analysis related to TMM plant
- Pumping and water management – ventilation fans, and Compressed air
- Programming of PLCs and variable speed drives
- Control systems (signaling, blasting, etc.)
- Conveyors, Ropes and rigging
- Graphic interpretation including drawings, design calculations and predictive maintenance analysis
